21 Day Fix Approved
Container Counts: 1 Green, 1 Yellow, 1 Orange
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 12-15 minutes
Serves: 6
Serving Size: 1 slice
Ingredients:
Non-stick cooking spray
1-16oz package whole wheat pizza dough, at room temperature
2-tsp. extra-virgin olive oil
1/4-cup tomato sauce, no sugar added (I used organic)
1-cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1-medium tomato, sliced
1/4-cup whole basil leaves, shredded into small pieces
Directions:
1) Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
2) Lightly coat 12-inch pizza pan with non-stick spray.
3) Taking room-temp dough, start at the center and moving outward, use fingers to press dough until it's 1/2 inch thick and stretch dough until it won't stretch any more.
4) Drizzle olive oil over dough and lightly brush with a pastry brush to edges.
5) Spread tomato sauce evenly over surface, leaving about a quarter-inch border. Then layer basil, tomato and cheese on (in that order).
6) Bake for 12-15 minutes (read label on pizza dough package), until crust is golden brown and cheese is bubbling.
Enjoy!
PIZZA is 21 day fix APPROVED?!!! That's what I thought when I discovered this recipe, and thought it was too good to be true. Yet, it is and margarita pizza just happens to be one of my favorite kinds! This savory dinner is quick to throw together, delicous and filling (because sliced in 6 slices, serving of 1 slice is a bit bigger) and the family loves it! Even my picky four-year-old ate a slice and a half of it, and my two year old had two and a half slices! Bon appetite!
